Hydrology
An assessment has been undertaken to determine the potential impact of the development on local hydrological conditions and private water supplies. This has involved consultation with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency, along with desk studies of geological data from British Geological Survey.
Given the depth of groundwater at the site, it was deemed highly unlikely that groundwater will be affected by proposed construction.
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has confirmed that there are no private water supplies within a 2km radius of the site.
Three small brooks traverse the site, running from north to south, draining towards Underbank Reservoir. During construction, preventative measures will be taken to reduce the possibility of sediment entering watercourses and groundwater. These include interceptor drains, silt traps and balancing ponds, best practice measures and construction.
