Planning Process
The planning application for the Sheephouse Heights wind farm was originally submitted in May 2008 after an initial public consultation event. Since the submission of the application, the proposal has been assessed by a number of consultees including Barnsley Council and bodies such as Natural England, the RSPB and the Highways Agency. The initial consultation period raised a range of issues which have required further assessment and supplementary environmental information is now ready for submission to Barnsley Council. This additional information will now be the subject of a further round of consultation and assessment.
It is anticipated that there will be a decision on the planning application later in the year, should planning permission be granted, construction will begin in 2010 and the wind farm will be operational post 2010.
